The station went on the air as WBGG on July 10, 1992. On March 18 1994, the station changed it's call sign to WCKM, on August 16, 1996 to WKAJ & on September 17, 1999 to the current WUAM.

Before becoming the home of YNN Capital Region on the radio, WUAM had an Adult Standards format
