WNCF, ch. 32, is an ABC-affiliated TV station, broadcasting on UHF ch. 32 from Montgomery, Alabama. It's transmitter is located in Hayneville, Alabama. The station is owned by SagamoreHill Broadcasting & is the flagship of that group which is also based in Montgomery.

HistoryEdit

Ch. 32, originally WCCB-TV, had it's original broadcast on March 12, 1964. The call letters were later changed to WKAB-TV. It was the 3rd station in Montgomery, after WSFA & WCOV. (A 4th station, Selma's WAKA-TV, moved into the Montgomery market in the 1980s.) The station has always been an ABC affiliate, though it has gone through several owners (Bahakel Communications & Media General, among others). The callsign has changed twice after it became WKAB-TV: to WHOA-TV (for "Heart of Alabama") in 1989 & WNCF (for "Where News Comes First") in 1999. The latest callsign change coincided with a short-lived return to the local news race.

Post-analog shutdownEdit

After the analog TV shutdown scheduled for February 17 2009, WNCF will return to ch. 32.

NewsEdit

As WKAB, the station had newscasts branded as "WKAB-TV News". After the call letters were changed to WHOA, the newscasts were branded as "NewsWatch 32".

An evening newscast was added in 1994, but was eventually cancelled due to low ratings against the VHF stations (WSFA & WAKA).

An abbreviated newscast, currently airs @ 10 PM on weeknights, as well as a morning cut-in update during the weekday editions of GMA. A morning call-in show, Good Morning Montgomery, airs weekdays from 5:30-7 AM. It has aired for over 15 years.

ABC 32 also has a "Spot Team" who are featured in promotions & advertisements.
