TimelineEdit

1926 – originally an NBC affiliate, airing everything from NBC Theater to Eddie Cantor

prior to October 1, 1981 – format was oldies music

October 1, 1981 – became News/Talk Radio

April 14, 1984 – became adult contemporary station WCGE, 60's & 70's music with 25% current music

prior to April 1985 – station was once known as WATE & simulcasting WATE-FM's News 104 format

March 1992 – WATE-FM switches to adult contemporary. According to the South Florida Herald (owned by WMFL Corporation), on the FM side, WATE (FM 97.5) has adopted a more conservative easy listening format to keep the station's 45-&-older listeners. The studios have been re-equipped for digital sound, with all the music on compact disc & all the commercials run from a computer hard drive.

July 1993 – switches to all-news format

October 2002 – becomes "Live 97" with call letters WMFL-FM, swapping with a South Florida station @ 850 AM. Live 97 was an all-news format

August 2005 – becomes "97.5 The Talk" after a failed All-News format. New slogan adopted as "All-Talk, 24/7"

September 2009 - power on WMFL-FM was boosted from 45,000 to 60,000 watts
