The network was 1st announced on January 4th, 2010. It launched on June 11th, with it's 1st program being the opening match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Other programs that are scheduled to be broadcast are the 2011 BCS National Championship Game, various college football & basketball games, up to 25 matches from the 2010 World Cup & the Summer X Games. Up to 85 LIVE events will be shown on the network in 2010.

At the time of it's announcement, SC-3D was to be the 1st 3D TV network. However, SCNew York: NYC has since also laid claim to that title, having produced a 3D New York Rangers broadcast under the "SCNew York: NYC-3D" banner on March 24th 2010, although that broadcast was only made available regionally through a single cable provider (parent company Cablevision) & has been SCNew York: NYC-3D's sole broadcast to date. 3D coverage of the 2010 Masters Tournament was also offered through an ad-hoc consortium of cable providers organized by Comcast. At a minimum though, SC-3D is the 1st national 3D TV network
