CHED is a talk radio station in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, broadcasting @ 630 on the AM dial & is owned by Corus Entertainment.

The station originally began broadcasting @ 1080 AM in 1954, until it moved to it's current frequency in 1965.

Although primarily concerned with talk & news programming, CHED is also the voice of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers & CFL's Edmonton Eskimos. In the late evenings it re-broadcasts older radio dramas.

Some of the shows include:

  • Adler Online with Charles Adler - weekdays @ 1 PM (Mountain Standard Time)
  • Rutherford with Dave Rutherford - weekdays @ 9 AM (MT)
  • Inside Sports with Dan Tencer - weeknights @ 8 PM (MT)
  • Those Old Radio Shows hosted by Dan Gavin - weeknights @ 11 PM (MT)
  • The Inside Story with Michelle Boden - Mondays @ 1 PM (MT)
  • Cop Talk hosted by 2 members of the Edmonton Police Service - Saturday afternoons @ 4 PM (MT)

For a significant portion of it's history, CHED was Edmonton's (& North America's) most successful Top 40 station having a staggering 40% share of the local listening audience, but with the arrival of FM radio, it lost it's listenership & moved to an all-talk format.

CHED is currently the most listened to radio station in Edmonton.
